Meet the Backfire Chiropractic Team
We are happy to be in our 18th year of providing excellent chiropractic care, massage and acupuncture services to Seattle’s Capitol Hill community. Meet the health professionals at Backfire Chiropractic in Seattle:
Dr. Kerry O'Neill, DC

Seattle chiropractor Dr. Kerry O'Neill completed his general studies at Western Washington University in 1983 and pre-med courses at the University of Washington. He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic University in 1993 after residency and immediately began private practice.
Since that time, this Capitol Hill chiropractor has worked with complementary practitioners in the Seattle and Capitol Hill area to build strong neighborhoods, promote healthful lifestyles and share his knowledge and expertise with the community. His goal is to offer the best in chiropractic care and to provide his clients with the information they need to take control of their health.
Scott Hutsenpiller, LMP

Massage therapist Scott Hutsenpiller graduated from the 1000 hour COMTA accredited professional massage license program at the Brenneke School of Massage in 2007. In 2009 he was certified as a SOMASSAGE® practitioner, a full body massage guided by the principles of SOMA Neuromuscular Integration® that focuses on structural re-balancing of the body's fascial web.
In his practice, he focuses on being present with clients, directly engaging the three dimensional body to support the whole being and collectively creating specific treatment plans to address short and long term goals. In his free time he likes to hike, bike, ski (not very well), box (sort of), read, live, love and laugh a lot. In a previous life, not so long ago, he jockeyed a desk, herded cats and nailed Jell-O to a tree as a project manager/application specialist for a large telecommunications company.
Kenneth Barnes, LMP

In August 2007, Ken Barnes became a part of Backfire Chiropractic, specializing in Deep Tissue, Sports Injury, Structural Muscular balancing and Active Isolated Stretching. He graduated from Spectrum School of Massage in 2003 and had his own practice for 4 years in Randle, WA, and Arlington, WA. Over the past few years he has learned that Chiropractic and Massage, when combined in treatment, can effectively connect the mind and body to start the healing process. He is a firm believer in keeping the mind and body in tune.
When not on the schedule and working, he spends time with his daughters, Bria and Dylan, enjoying life.
Nan Arita Schwarz, Acupuncturist

Nan Arita Schwarz holds a Masters of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine from Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine, where she was clinically trained in acupuncture modalities from mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and France. Her extensive herbal medical knowledge stems from both classical and modern studies, including the famous Chinese medical classic, the ShangHan Lun. She firmly believes that every person has it in them to get back to a positive state of health and well-being, and she is simply there to help facilitate that process.
"I hope to meet many of you soon. For more information, you can visit my website at www.nanarita.com."
Celene Nolan, LMP

Massage therapist Celene Nolan became interested in massage therapy after receiving care from the massage therapists at Backfire Chiropractic in 2008. The impact and long-term benefits she experienced led her to become an accredited Licensed Massage Practitioner (LMP) herself. She recently graduated from a 750 hour COMTA accredited program at Cortiva Institute of Massage Seattle, where she expanded her knowledge of muscle and fascia restructuring, as well as postural and movement therapy.
"I now am a part of the clinic that led me down this path in the first place, which is exciting and gratifying at the same time."
